Things to do in the Osage
Expansive vistas. Great food. Historic sites. The Osage has a lot to offer!
- Visit the Osage: The Osage Tourism Board's website is chock full of great information on activities and points of interest in the Osage!
- Tall Grass Prairie Preserve: The Joseph H. Williams Tallgrass Prairie Preserve is the largest (39,650 acres) protected remnant of tallgrass prairie left. The Nature Conservancy maintains the preserve through the use of prescribed burning and grazing from thousands of bison.
- Woolaroc: "Hidden away in the rugged Osage Hills, Woolaroc was the ranch retreat of oilman Frank Phillips and is now a 3,700 acre wildlife preserve and world-class art museum. Come and see why Will Rogers called it “the most unique place in this country.”
- Not quite in the Osage, but still worth the short drive to the north, is the true Little House on the Prairie, home of Laura Ingalls and inspiration for her series of children's books.
Lodging
There are a lot of great places to stay while in the area. Few of them appreciate extra dog hairs on their couches, so check with us about boarding your dog with us during your stay. Here are a few places to consider that are unique to Osage County!
